It's a dogs life

What do they really mean when they say "it's a dogs life". Today I took my dog Lucy to the vet for the second day in a row. Not her choice. She was terrified. I felt so sad and guilty. She trusts me. What must she have been thinking as I walked away from her. She is having knee surgery today, which I now understand is not unusually. I was surprised that it cost $4000. I am just thankful that we could afford to give her the surgery she needs, even though I feel so guilty for it right now. The Vet is fairly certain that she will need the other knee done within 2 years. I just hope somehow she understands and can trust me again. Then there is the long recovery stage, were the poor thing must be restrained for 8 -10 weeks. A dogs life it won't be for sometime. No playing, no running, no jumping, no fun, and what is a dogs life with out the fun. It will be hard on all of us, but after reading several blogs on the same subject, I know that we will all pull through a bit frayed, but ready for action by the time summer roles around.
