Slipping out of 2010, and sliding into 2011
Happy Holidays Everybody
I hope your year was a good one, with more ups then downs. My year was mostly favorable, and I did learn a few things.
We only have one week left until the first of winter, and the beginning of longer days. I don't mind winter, but I do hate that it gets dark so early. I think 7PM year around would be nice.
I will be staying on at the downtown Everett studio and gallery, though my hours will change. I plan to continue working in the studio, but my OPEN TO THE PUBLIC hours will be greatly reduces. I hope to find the right mix of work time, retail time, and fun time.
Wishing you all a creative new year and a fun and safe holiday season.

DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
Hello Art Friends
For my one year anniversary at the Corner Studio and Gallery, I have decided to do a benefit for two well deserving Animal Charities. I present the Dogs Days of Summer show, and hope the weather will cooperate.
Dogs, cats, horses & pigs will be featured for this end of summer show. The painting will be hung Paris Salon style, which basically means floor to ceiling and wall to wall. I have rounded up all my animal paintings, along with my private collection and offering them at below value prices to the public September 10th - October 7th.
50% of every animal painting will go to animal charity. I have picked 2 groups that go above and beyond, but I am glad to donate to your favorite animal charity with your purchase. Happy Paws Farm in Arlington (no kill shelter) loves and houses hard to place dogs (many Katrina Rescues) and now have a new shelter to save feral cats. Homeward Pets of Woodinville (no kill shelter) nurses, loves and shelters cats & dogs, while finding them good homes. If animal art is not your thing, I have many other non animal art pieces in the gallery to choose from (my paintings, jewelry and sculpture).
Opening reception is this coming Saturday, September 18th, 4 -7 during Art Walk, and I will also have a dog friendly reception on Thursday, September 30th, 4- 7 PM

Pain in the Neck
Hello Friends
It looks like my pain in the neck maybe a bit more serious then a few vicodan and a ice pack. I tried a week long massive dose of steroids, and while they reduced the pain a bit the numbness and electrical jolts have gotten worse by the day. The pain drugs, don't touch it and I have tried more then a few kinds. I have given up on that kind of relief. I had a MRI today and then a visit with Dr. Klein. He gave me some options and I choose surgery which seemed to have the best percentage of a full recovery. I decided to have the surgery ASAP. I need sleep and a month of a numb hand has been enough. So, Monday morning at 530AM, I will be going in for prep and a 730 operation, which includes a little bone clean up and a metal thingamajig hooked to my neck bones to help stabilize the area and keep the new space form collapsing. Giving those nerve a chance to live happily every after. It will be a while before I get into the art gallery, as driving is a no no. A range of motion problem, but only for 10 days. I feel a bit better just knowing something is going to happen.

Raising Money for Rescued Horses
Hello Friends
The Hay 4 Horses group art show is in it's second week. We have over 50 pieces of art in the show, with something for every pocketbook. We had a very nice opening reception with a good turnout. As of yet we have had no big sales, but we have sold many smaller pieces. I am very hopeful that by time the show is over we will have raised a nice amount of money for Equine Rescue Association and Horse Haven.
Open hours have changed yet again, so please check if you are coming by. I am still there my same hours; Tues, 2 - 6, Thurs 10 -2 and Friday 2 - 6. So those hours I am guaranteed to be open. The other member of the studio is not always reliable, so it is chancy other times. She is usually there on Saturdays, but if you are coming form out of town, please call and set up a time. The studio/gallery is located at 2831 Wetmore Avenue, in downtown Everett, WA.
A BIG THANKS to all of you who helped make this possible.

Hay 4 Horses
Corner Studio & Gallery
Call For Art
Hello Friends, Artists and Horse Lovers.
I am hosting a fund raiser for Equine Rescue of Marysville. I will be opening up my gallery space to house a show to benefit the horses.
HAY 4 HORSES
I am looking for art that is horse or loosely horse related, landscapes, barns, etc. I realize potential buyers may want to support the horses, but may not want equine art. The gallery will take no commissions from this show. Art work can be donated at a 100%, 75% or 50% rate. There will be greater leeway for subject matter and materials for those pieces donated at 100%. We have lots of lovely wall space, but also very visible and appealing window ledge display space for small paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and jewelry ( these windows get sun).
The show will be hung May 6th &7th,and will remain up through June 14th. Art work can be delivered anytime before the 6th. (see below for hours)
All pieces must be hand delivered unless other arrangements have been made. Pieces must be ready to hang or display and be of reasonable weight and size.
We will take all precautions to protect your work form damage and theft, but as always, bad people steal and accidents happen, and we are just two nice gals trying to make a go of it and we cannot replace or buy your art. Keeping that in mind, we will treat each piece honorably. Unsold pieces can be picked up June 15th, 16th & 17th, 1:15 - 6 pm. We will pay artists after the show and as soon as checks clear. Equine Rescue will send a notice of donation.
Equine Rescue is a charitable organization 501 ( c ) 3.
They have an all volunteer staff and currently have 31 horses.
You can learn more about them at www.era-horsehaven.org
If you have questions please call me, Janet Wold 360-658-7022 or JanetWold@gmail.com Please put the word “horses” in the subject line.
The gallery space is located on the NE corner of Hewitt and Wetmore, in downtown Everett, just 4 blocks up from the Comcast Arena. Drop off times Tues. 1:15 - 6, Thurs 1:15 - 4, and Fridays 11:30-7pm. We are there other times too, but you will have to let us know as we are in and out. We will be open Tues. - Saturday during the Horse show.
I could tell you all the sad story of these horses, but they all come from some state of deprivation, abandonment or abuse, and Equine Rescue has taken on these noble creatures and saved them. The organization has no outside funding. They are entirely dependent upon private donations. Let’s sell some art and save some horses!

Art Studio, Art Walk & Unclad Art show
Hello, I am still here. I am sorry to be away for so long. Like most of you working stiff, I just got busy and If you know me, computer time isn't my thing. So those two things and much more added to my neglect of the blog.
The downtown Everett studio continues to BE, which is very happy news. It is also the reason I have been so busy. I have been trying to stay open to the public as many days a week as possible and still continue creating and spending quality time with the family. My studio partner has been busy this quarter, so she had to cut her hours at the studio down to Saturdays only, so our open hours have been curtailed, but it looks like Jane may find some additional morning hours to open the studio in response to some of you who have requested earlier hours. I have taken on a much needed yoga class several times a week which unfortunately is at noon. I do feel a bit guilty about closing down during the lunch hour, but I really need this class. I didn't know how badly until I started going.
Anyway, it seems spring is almost here and we hope to continue making new art for your eyes and minds.
The last few weeks we have had Jeff Kirk as our guest artist. He does a pop style of artwork in reverse painting on glass. Not that easy to wrap your head around when you hear his process. His work will be on display in the front windows through the 18th of March.
This weekend is the start of the Unclad Art Show 2010, at the Gallery by the Bay in Stanwood. It is going to be a spectacular show. I had a sneak preview this week and I was really impressed. You can check out the art at www.uncladart.com
Art Walk is the 20th of March from 4-8 pm. Now that the new Red Door Gallery has opened next door there is even more reason to come downtown Everett for art walk. We will be open at the Corner Studio and Gallery, work place of Janet Wold, along with Wise Designz, Liz Geiger Studio, the Red Door Gallery and of course Lowell Art Works. We are on the corner of Wetmore and Hewitt, at 2831 Wetmore Ave. www.JanetWold art.com

The long road to spring
I get very excited once we have made it past the longest day of the year. I like to check the sun up and sun down times daily rejoicing in the smallest gain of time. I measure the days in how late I can take Lucy out for a walk and how long we can stay out. A clear day can be such a bonus, but it can be miss leading since we have so many days shortened by our usual weather. Anyway I am looking to the horizon for light and soon to the ground for those very early signs of green poking up.
